“At Scratch, each loaf we bake is the reflection of a dynamic process that constantly changes with temperature, humidity, the flour we’re using, and the spirit of the baker”

Join us for an introduction to the wonderful, crazy-making, addictive world of sourdough baking!

If you jumped on the sourdough train during the pandemic, or you find the science and mythology too daunting to try, this class will provide you with a roadmap to begin or further your journey!

Who is this class for: The beginner bread baker! A basic knowledge of bread baking will be helpful, but not necessary. We ask for bakers to be at least 18 years old (or 16 with a parent also in attendance). During this workshop, we will discuss: An overview of sourdough cultures and maintenance. A discussion on different flours and grains. All aspects of mixing, proofing, dividing, shaping, and baking. How to turn one base recipe into multiple different loaves. Baker’s Math. Plenty of time for Q+A.

You will leave the class with a bit of sourdough starter, a formula for a basic sourdough loaf, and some delicious bread.

Cost: $275

What to bring: We recommend bringing a pen/notebook for notes, closed toe shoes (no heels), and a water bottle.

A light lunch will be served, and you will take home your bread, and a copy of the recipe used in order to recreate the magic at home!

Cancellation Policy: A full refund will be granted up to one week prior to the date of the class. Please contact us if issues arise with your attendance at this class.

Covid policy: At this time, masks are optional. Please do not attend if you are feeling ill on the day of the class.
